OOPS WE DID IT AGAIN...

"The price of crude oil hit yet another record on the last day of a tumultuous first half, spurting past $143 a barrel before ending lower on demand fears and a resilient dollar. Crude has shot up nearly 50 percent since the start of the year, in large part on the dollar's troubles, and analysts expect that trend to remain intact as the second half of 2008 begins..."

$PEND $PEND $PEND!

"The Labor Department reported Friday that consumer prices rose by 0.6 percent last month, the biggest one-month increase since last November, as gasoline costs surged by 5.7 percent. Food prices, which have also been rising sharply, were up 0.3 percent as the cost of beef and bakery products showed big gains..."

MORE ON IMMIGRATION...

"...Those affected worst are immigrants from Mexico, a group heavily represented in the industry. According to the report, about 221,000 immigrants left construction in 2007. Of these, about 152,000 were immigrants from Mexico..."

Those are pretty staggering numbers...click here for the rest of this article!

IMMIGRATION

Touchy subject, we know...but is it getting a little extreme?

Read this article that made ME wonder where we (Mexico AND the USA) are going to draw the line and establish clear cut laws for this issue...

Melconcholy as familes try to cope with the loss of their child, possibly their only one, but hopeful, as China loosens up their one-child policy:

BEIJING - Chinese officials said Monday that the country's one-child policy exempts families with a child killed, severely injured or disabled in the country's devastating earthquake...

AZ COPS

We just received this from Cathie Buckmister, a dear friend of ours in Mesa, AZ:

Hi everyone!
Today (May 15) is Peace Officers Memorial Day. It is the day that we honor the Fallen Peace Officers we lost during 2007. This year we are honoring Glendale P.D. Officer Anthony Jon Holly E.O.W. 2/19/2007, Mohave Co. Deputy Philip Rodriguez E. O. W. 4/21/2007, Phoenix P.D. Officer George Cortez E.O.W. 7/27/2007, Phoenix P.D. Officer Nicki James Erfle E.O.W. 9/18/2007, and Casa Grande P.D. Officer Sgt. Tate Lynch E.O.W. 10/25/2007. These brave men gave their lives along with 182 other Heroes throughout the United States last year. Sadly this year we have already lost 37 who will be honored at next year's ceremonies.
I couldn't make it to Police Week this year, but there are over 1,400 family members who are in attendance and have been to a candlelight vigil on Monday night, where their loved ones names were read, and now etched on the Memorial Wall. They have been to the Capitol Lawn and heard the President speak and honor their loved ones heroism. They are attending many seminars on grieving, and recieving tremendous support by counselors who donate their time just for them. More importantly, they are meeting other survivors who like themselves have suffered a loss they never thought they would have to bear, and making friends for life.
The next time you see a Police Officer, Border Patrol Agent, FBI Agent or any of those that serve and protect us, tell them thank you. They might not make it home that night to kiss thier loved ones again. And they will appreciate that you took the time to thank them.

SOME GOOD NEWS!

From Ken Millar of Re/Max Alliance:

In regards to RE in AZ, I’d say that our “number of transactions” count in Maricopa is trending up; one report comparing March 08 to Feb. 08 showed a 27% improvement and a high compared to the previous 6 months. No one is taking the position that they have any pricing power yet and in fact, the median prices for homes is still slipping while not as much as before.

The units sold trend is encouraging that maybe we will start to see real improvement through the balance of ’08.

Encouraging!!

LET'S NOT HAVE TOO MUCH FUN...

Surviving the Slump
by Ralph Roberts

Realtors across the country are hurting. Housing markets are in a downward spiral. Homeowners are flocking to FSBO websites to list their own homes. Internet lead generation services are heating up the competition. And many agents are offering cut-rate commissions to survive the cutthroat market...

Realtors have to remember, however, what most retailers already know -- competing on price alone is for suckers. Start offering sellers lower commissions and you are setting yourself up for a world of hurt, both in the short-term and well into the future. Once you establish a reputation as the "cheapest agent on the block," turning that around later can be nearly impossible.

Instead of competing by offering lower commissions, find something else to compete on -- quality service, experience, and know-how. Adjust your marketing materials to highlight current market conditions and your unique ability to sell homes in a down market...

ROCKY POINT REAL ESTATE UPDATE

As you all know, Rocky Point continues to grow year after year. In 2005 it was number one in foreign Real Estate investment in all of Mexico and in 2006 it was number 3. Currently there is a Coastal Highway that is under construction slated for completion in 4th quarter 2008 making it only a five hour drive from Southern California and the International Airport is also under construction with delivery of the first terminal planned to be completed by summer of next year. Those two factors alone will open Penasco to the rest of the world.

Although we are directly effected by that market in Arizona, this will be the last buyer's market for a long time. With the extensive infrastructure and services being brought here, we will soon see people from everywhere wanting a piece of this paradise! There are SO many great investment deals to be had out there - it's the perfect time to start looking for YOUR Rocky Point investment!

Check out
my website for some awesome deals!
