ROCKY POINT INTERNET OR JUST EXPLORER?

Is anyone having issues with Internet Explorer or is it just me? Er, rather...Internet a la Rocky Point? I've been trying to blog since this morning, and when I hit publish, it takes me to images.google.com and says it can't find the page I'm looking for - and I've been having errors non stop!

Is anyone else having trouble???

Note to self: Must get MAC. Must get MAC.

LONG LOST PRIMATE FOUND!

This stuff intrigues me, so I'll share it with you:

"On a misty mountaintop on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, scientists for the first time in more than eight decades have observed a living pygmy tarsier, one of the planet's smallest and rarest primates."

GET YOUR SHOP ON WHEN YOU GO NORTH!

Tarjay is planning to cut prices even MORE.

"Target Corp. said Monday it will aggressively cut prices to give consumers bargains during the holiday season, after weak sales of its apparel and home offerings led third-quarter earnings to fall 24 percent."

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

**Thanks Amy ;) shout out to San Antonio!**

HILARIOUS VIDEO

Click here if you love Justin Timbo and Beyonce! This video is SO funny!!

LOOK HOW FAR WE'VE COME

In our spoiled and privileged lives today it is easy to cry over "all we have lost" this past year or so.... and the sad shape our country is in...but ...these photos clearly show how much all of us have grown and gained. It is easy to forget all that those who came before us over came, so we can and do enjoy all we have today.

These photos say so much and help to remind all of us the trials and hard times every segment of our population grew from.

We truly are "One nation under God". And...why there is so much resistance towards newcomers to our country wanting to run over the majorities rights to change all this great country was built on...our masses do celebrate their heritage and celebrations, but not to the tune of destruction of respect to this great country.

DISTURBING NEWS, CNT'D

Here is a condensed version of the email from a very concerned donor to the Penasco Healthcare Foundation:

"I am extremely upset with the very unethical method that this foundation used to solicit funds...these funds were going to be used for projects that Dr. Gonzalez was going to be involved in and now I understand that is not the case...I am demanding a return of the $100 we donated so that we can in turn donate these funds to Dr. Gonzalez’ projects...your foundation has certainly gotten off on a very bad foot with the people of this town. No one knows who these people are that are involved in your foundation, Doug Allen for example. We all know Dr Gonzalez and respect his work greatly...you’ll be hearing from many of his patients and friends who want their money returned."

If you donated to the Foundation, and are upset as well, please write me and I will get you in contact with the correct people so as to get your donation back. mynparty@yahoo.com.mx

CONGRATULATIONS, DANIELA

One of my favorite people, Daniela Plaza (Pilates and Spinning) is pregnant. If you see her around town, tell her congrats - she and Daniel will be great parents to the little Danielito or Danielita! Stay tuned for more as the situation develops. No pun intended...

QUOTE OF THE DAY...NO, WEEK...NO YEAR!

This one needs a little back ground history, so here goes:

Everyone knows Jagermeifster is one of those two faced friends. The ones that only like you when you're doing something for them, then the next day, they just expect you to forget what they did to you - and most of the time, it's true, right? Well, last night, Jill Mitchell and I were hanging out with ol J...When the burn subsided after taking the (I'm not even going to tell you the number, just know it wasn't the first) shot of ol J, I asked her:

"Why do we do this to ourselves?"

And she historically replied:

"It's all in the name of havin a good time"

And THAT friends, is the quote of the year.

MYN COOKING

Today, I had to find something to do with the pumpkins I had here sitting around the house, so what did I do? I dismantled them...

-I cut the peel off, scraped out the seeds and chopped the meat of the pumpkin up and pureed it with water and lemon juice - yum! From one small pumpkin, I got the approximately 4 cans of pumpkin puree.

-I rinsed the pumpkin seeds in a collander, laid them out on a kitchen towel to dry, and roasted them on 275 for about 45 minutes for yummy salad topping!

SOMTHING ELSE TO DO WITH PUMPKIN

Check out this recipe from Life Script!
Ingredients
1 tablespoon peanut oil
1/3 cup finely chopped onions
1/3 cup finely chopped celery
1 teaspoon fresh thyme
1 bay leaf
1 medium size pumpkin (about 3 lbs.)
Salt to taste
Freshly ground black pepper
About 1 quart vegetable stock, or vegetable broth
2 tablespoons toasted pumpkin seeds (see recipe), optional

Cooking Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Pierce the pumpkin several times and cook in the microwave on high power for 3 to 5 minutes until the shell softens. Cut the pumpkin in half, scoop out the seeds and reserve them for making the Toasted Pumpkin Seeds. Place the pumpkin halves cut-side down on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven until tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 40 minutes. Let cool. Reserve the juice on the baking sheet.
3. Scoop the pulp out of the pumpkin skin with a spoon and set aside.
4. Heat the peanut oil in a deep saucepan over low heat. Add the onions, celery, thyme and bay leaf. Season lightly with salt and pepper and cook for 10 minutes. 5. Add the pumpkin pulp and the stock and bring to a boil over high heat.
6. Reduce the heat and simmer until the onion and celery are completely tender, about 15 minutes.
7. After removing the bay leaf, puree the mixture in a blender, in batches, being careful not to overfill the blender.
8. Reheat the bisque. Add stock if it is too thick.
9. Serve hot, sprinkled with the toasted pumpkin seeds.

CLEARING UP A RUMOR

To all of you who might be concerned...

Here in that last few days, I've heard some odd rumors floating around out there about me; I'm here to clean them up.

NO I am not in jail, nor was I in jail
NO I have not moved back to the states (yet)
YES, I am still here in RP and will be staying for a while

Do you ever feel like you just need to be a hermit and be away from people for a while? That's what happened to me - between family visits, working, and being at the comandancia 3 times in one week for a total of 16 hours, and coming down with bronchitis, it has been time for me to take a break and be a hermit. My body just couldn't take it anymore!

I will be back out and about when I can stop coughing for a while...see you in town soon, and thanks to everyone for their concern.

UNCOMMON WOMEN ON COMMON GROUND TONIGHT

Don't forget that the Uncommon Women on Common Ground meeting at Consign and Design store in the old Costa Brava building is tonight!

If you haven't gotten to see the store, tonight is the perfect time to come out - see you there ;)

SAYING GOODBYE TO A LEGEND...

I've held my tongue long enough, and I can hold it no longer (sorry G, I have to) One of my best sources of information (or so I thought) told me a few nights ago that she thinks my blog is sh**.

To quote:

P: "We need you at softball - we need more woman players"
M: "I saw you need a fast pitcher, and I fast pitched for a season in school - did you read it on my blog?"
P: "I don't read that sh** I don't have time for it"

Well, I must say that I don't agree, and very frankly I am offended. Needless to say, I will not be posting anything about or from her. If you don't know who I'm talking about by now, you more than likely aren't a local - don't worry about it.

THE FOG - MYSTERY SOLVED!

Thanks to Jim Hamblin and Kent White for writing in and giving me the 411 on the smoke that floated over the city:

The fire, I'm told, was from the city burning the city dump again. They don't have money for the lime and there's a huge amount of organic waste from the fishing industry. The whole thing has been a recurrent public health hazard . . usually every fall until the weather gets chilly. Sad. Jim Hamblin

I'm sure you know by now, but the fog was the ever thought out timing of the city to burn trash at the dump before a busy weekend Kent White

HASSLE FREE VEHICLE ZONE

I can't remember if I posted this or not, but for the weekenders, you might want to know:

The "Hassle Free" vehicle signs on the road to Rocky Point mean that you don't have to have any special permits to be in this area. It's considered the "free zone." I think the free zone extends 5 hours soth of here, to San Carlos/Guymas. I'm almost totally sure on that.

Any questions you might have before you travel to Rocky Point, write me and ask: mynparty@yahoo.com.mx

A BEAUTIFUL ROCKY POINT SUNSET

Aren't they all this gorgeous?!

MUSEOS SUBMARINOS
