JILL MITCHELL

She called us last week to let us know that she's in town, resting at her house, and that she is healing! She's not up for visits right now, but we will keep you posted on the latest later!
There will be an event January 11th at Elixir, so stay tuned for details on that!

ANOTHER GREAT CAUSE

We just received this email from Liane Armstrong as a reminder of a great charity drive she's putting on in conjunction with the Black Dog on Fremont Blvd:

We are collecting for the CIDA Men’s Rehab Center here in Penasco. As time is very short now, I am sending a reminder of things that we still need.
You can drop things off at “The Black Dog Restaurant and Bar” on Blvd. Fremont. If you are having a problem with delivery, please call me or email me and we will come and pick up your donation.
These are things we are collecting:
Any gift that a woman would like to receive as a gift from her beau.
Ex: Perfumes, jewelry, lotions—new or barely used - Socks, gloves, scarves, hats – for all ages - children to adults - Gift Bags, tissue paper, and Ribbon – lots of ribbon
Of course, money always works, too!
I started my “little” project comparatively late. It has grown to a “big” project quite quickly. Last count looks like there will be approx. 300+ adults and 200 kids. Way more than we thought. We are preparing 10 turkeys, dressing, potatoes & gravy. We are hoping we will have enough. Each family is to bring food and beverage. On Christmas Eve, if you find yourself here with nothing to do, please come and participate. I am sure we can find something for you to do, and it should be fun and very rewarding. There will be live music, Santa Claus, and hopefully lots of good food!
This facility operates totally on donations. They can use anything and everything that it takes to run a household. There is not AC in the summer and no heat in the winter. So warm clothes and blankets are necessary, especially right now. Space heaters now and fans in the summer. They have one stove and they feed 100-150 men 3 times a day, 7 days a week. It is a good place and they seem to do a good job.
Your help and generosity will be appreciated by many. Thank you in advance from myself and all the ones involved at CIDA. THANKS TO YOU who have already made some awesome contributions. It has been very fulfilling to be associated with so many warm and generous people!
If you have any questions, please call me at 638-107-7164 mex cell or email.I will be in Phx on Thursday, please call 480-250-2202 US cell. My vonage phone is 602-635-2147, If I don't answer please leave a message.

Thanks again,
HOPE YOU HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON,

QUOTE of the DAY

I received an email from my half sister, and in it was this quote:
Heal the past; live the present;
dream the future.
Something we can ALL do!

YEAR END HAPPENINGS

We hope you all are getting ready for the holiday season - we sure are! Here's some interesting news for you to chew on:

In the real estate world, it is the time to BUY if you have the finances. Donald Trump was quoted on MSNBC saying, "Buy Buy Buy" to real estate investors. Another guru, Barbara Corcoran was quoted on The Today Show saying, "This is the time to buy real estate" So we guess that this is the time to buy up real estate! There are so many great investment opportunities in Rocky Point, one with the finances to make a move that doesn't might suffer later!

More on Rocky Point - there is a new area south of us they have coined the "Gold Coast" with beachfront lots starting at 130K!

On to Mexico news, the government is working on a plan to reduce income taxes from 28% to 17.5% over the course of four years. That's big news!

In USA news, President Bush is passing a bill to relieve the "mortgage meltdown" CNN was reporting that he is planning to freeze interest rates of some qualifying Americans. They say it will only effect about 250,000; but Congress is working to expand that number into the millions to really relieve the real estate market.

The first annual Rocky Point Christmas charity drive pulled in over $36,000 to buy blankets, food, and toys for the underprivileged families to the east of town. We will all go out tomorrow, the 16th, to pass out toys to the kids and food and warmth to these needy families! Stay tuned for pictures!

The weather has been in the 50's and upper to mid 40's - setting the stage for sweaters and boots all around - it's the holiday season 2007, let's finish it with a bang and be GREAT in 2008!

LEAVING US...

After 5 years of the Penasco life, Michelle "Shell" LaFreniere is moving back to Canada. Don't tear up just yet: she's coming back in a year!

She and Chris (her fiance) are going to live in Canada-she's going back to school, and they're going to get married. We're so happy 4 her that she is going after her dreams! We're sure she'll come back a revived, refreshed woman ready to take on Penasco once again!

Let's all wish her the best in all her endeavors.

You GO girl :)

JILL'S ACCIDENT UPDATE

Hi all,
We just got off the phone with Severina, and she's told us that:
  • Jill is in a hospital in Tucson
  • She has internal bleeding
  • Some broken vertebrates in her neck
  • A broken shoulder that needs reconstructing
  • Bobbie is here in Penasco, and she's going to be ok
We are collecting donations for Jill, as the surgeries are going to be expensive and as far as we know, she doesn't ahve health insurance in the states.
If you'd like to contribute, please drop off a donation at:
The ReMax office on Fremont (attn: Myaann)
Realty Executives (attn: Claudia)
Sonoran Resales (attn: Gia)
If you would like to add your office as a drop off point, let us know!
Let's keep Jill and Bobbie in our prayers that they will both have speedy recoveries.
Stay tuned for more...

THIS JUST IN!!!

(UPDATED NEWS: JILL ISN'T OK - BOBBIE IS STILL IN THE HOSPITAL!)
Last night, Jill Mitchell (Paradise Beach Club) and Bobbie (from the Mayan Palace) were walking across the street to Capone's and they both were hit by a car!
Jill is doing ok, but Bobbie is still in the hospital. Let's all keep them in our minds and hearts today.
WE LOVE YOU!

RAIN RAIN WENT AWAY...

Gee! Finally we got some relief! Sheesh - it dallujed (is that a word?) for a whole day and finally let up in the wee hours of the morning...we expected to feel a chill when we stepped outside this morning, but then turned back inside to put away our long coat and take off a layer. (sigh) we're ready for winter!
Anywhoo - any predictions on those clouds to the south east? We hope they blow over, or at least die out before we are struck again with torrential rains!
This is the desert, right? Well, I guess we got our "3-5" of rain per year" all in one sitting!
