QUOTE OF THE DAY

Here's a good one:

Worrying is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere.

Nice little rhyme to it, too!

NEW ROCKY POINT RESTAURANT

Look out Rocky Point - there's a new game in town...S.W.I.M is at Bella Sirena - the sexy pool side lounge over filling the shoes of what was there before them, S.W.I.M brings originality, (try the quesadillas with chicken, goat cheese, and roasted red peppers) variety (different music sets every hour or so) and a rockin good vibe (think upbeat staff and rounds passed around from time to time) together under one roof - er - sky, at Bella Sirena's new poolside lounge.

Open everyday except Wednesday - see you there!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!

It might be a little late, but today is our birthday!! Join all of us at Capone's tonight at 8:00 for drinks and pizza!

Spread the word...

SANCTUARY SPA at BELLA SIRENA

A new spa is here to stay! Sanctuary at Bella Sirena is an experiance like none other we've had! From the very beginning, the welcome we received was so warm and comforting - it made us feel right at home! We were whisked to the facial room where we got the renewal facial from the gentlest hands ever. Such care was taken to make us comfortable during the treatment...then we went onto the next stage of our spa experiance. The body treatments. Consisting of the detoxifying body scrub with salts from the dead sea, a marine algae body wrap and 30 minutes of paraffin therapy - we were almost drooling, and definately sleeping! All the products used are 100% certified organic, which makes for a total in touch with nature experiance. We walked out smelling like the sweetest, richest oils and our skin felt like a baby's behind!

The whole concept of Sanctuary itself is a mix of the old world european feel of Bella Sirena and a beachy bungalow hideout, complete with thatched-like palapa ceiling coverings. The music itself is dreamy, too. In the facial room it was a soft symphony of french horns and flutes playing a continual lullaby. In the body treatment session, clarinets and strings coupled with jungle like sounds to create the perfect vibe for the place I was in - somewhere between awake and dreamland.

The attentiveness of all the Sanctuary staff is incredible. They make you feel like you are the only person in the place the whole time, we were totally comfortable and will definately go back. Very soon. You should check them out, too! Services range from the extravagant organic body treatments to massages of all types, facials galore, and hand and foot care.

If you want rejuvination with 5 star service, Sanctuary is the place to go!
**For a limited time, they are offering 2 for 1 massages!***

SPRING BREAK UPDATE!

Megan Finnerty said it right when she wrote this article about one particular person on spring break here in Rocky Point...

"There was nothing shocking about spring break in Rocky Point.
Of course, I saw men and women making out; women making out with women; people bonging beers; people falling down drunk in the street; people puking; couples dirty dancing; women doing body shots; men fighting; women exposing themselves..."

PLAYA AZUL CORRECTION

We just got off the phone with Linda Young, an angry investor in the Playa Azul project on North Beach. She expressly explained to us that NONE of the North Beach investors got a penny of their money back from the developers and the letter we received from the developers about them giving 85% of investors money back is false...

We will research this more and give you an update as we get more information. We apologize to whomever we might have offended by any of our previous posts regarding this matter. We only post what we are aware of, and the information we receive.

Stay tuned for more info...

BLUE BUDDAH

We just got back from the AMPI mixer held at Blue Buddah at the Mision del Mar, right across from the new entrance to Las Conchas! The concept embraces lounge. It's totally cool with low tables and a funky Asian fusion feel...the menu was varied as well - it had cool tapas like sliders and even octopus in different ways, there were 3 kinds of paella (yum) and an array of cocktails, including a chocolate martini - dee-lish! We'll be back to try everything - no doubt!

WE JUST CAN'T HELP IT...

We don't know where all of you are coming from, but we jsut get giddy when we check out visitor counter...we can't believe it's at 460 now, after less than a week of being on here.

We're so thankful to you all for reading the blog and passing the link on!

THANKS SO MUCH!

Let's see how long it takes before we hit 1000!!!

ANOTHER FORWARD (EN ESPANOL)

We haven't really started in our translation of this page to make it fully bilingual, but here is our first go:

¡Ah No !. . .

1.- Una piedra, después de haber sido lanzada;
2.- Una palabra, después de haber sido proferida;
3.- Una oportunidad, después de haberla perdido;
4.- El tiempo, después de haber pasado. No lo envíes a nadie si no te parece bueno, pero si quieres compartir este pensamiento, ¡¡¡ Hazlo !!!

COASTAL HIGHWAY TO ROCKY POINT

As you can see, we are covered in the Primera Etapa (first phase) of the coastal highway. This monumental undertaking will have it's first phase complete this year! We are literally just waiting in the wing for the last 35 kilometers (30 miles or so) to be done, and we'll instantly be connected to California! It's been a little bit slow going because special care was taken to respect the ecological reserves of El Pinacate and the Upper Gulf of California.

ROCKY POINT TRAFFIC & LAWS

Ok, for some of the tourists that come here, they (as we locals say) "leave their brain at the border" and they think that there aren't really any laws that they need to abide by.

Some seem so obvious, but aren't followed:
Don't drink and drive!
Speed limits ARE enforced
On ATV's: the riders must be 16 or older, 14 and 15 with an adult
ATV's aren't allowed on Benito Juarez, and aren't allowed anywhere after dark
Seatbelts are strongly enforced
Parking in handicapped spaces without the proper permission is NOT allowed
Parking on corners and in front of fire hydrants is not allowed either!
Pedistrians have the right of way - ALWAYS

Please pass these on to folks you know that are coming down. The cheif of police is working hard to make sure tourists and locals are safe. DO NOT pay a police officer ANY money of any kind. If you are stopped, the policeman (or woman) will take your driver's license and you follow them to the big police station. You are to pay the fine there. All fines are minimal (think $15 dollars for parking illegally and $20 for running stop sign) so please follow the rules!

ROCKY POINT KIDS SHELTER

DIF (we aren't sure what it stands for - yet) is starting a great new project - a kid's shelter for orphans, abused and neglected children right here in Rocky Point!

The offices are located at Sinaloa and Ruiz Corinez Ave. They are in need of donations of materials, labor, sponsorship, and consulting. Monetary donations also needed. For more info, please get in touch with:

*All dontations are tax deductible!

Let's all work together to help this great program build a successful childeren's shelter!

Terrific Tuesday

Check out this week's weather here!

St. Patty's day may be a little grey, but that won't stop the party from rocking on!

ROCKY POINT NEWS BIT BY BIT

Let's get you all caught up on the happenings over the weekend...

Starting with the whole Spring Break thing...we know, we know...there aren't that many people in town. Why you might ask? Because the droves are coming. This weekend we'll be innundated with kids and families alike!

In the Rocky Point Nightlife scene, Friday was a little slow (besides the Baja and Manny's) and Saturday night was great! We didn't go out, but we heard that Sunset, Boo Bar, and Elixir were hoppin! Sunday, we wentto go for a couple cocktails at S.W.I.M (stay tuned for more info on this hot spot!) we had some GREAT eats: goat cheese and chicken quesadillas with fire roasted red peppers - home made bruchetta - chips and fire roasted salsa...along with some KILLER margaritas! We almost can't hold back our excitement to spill the beans on this one, but we promised to keep it tight lipped, but not for long! Some Poturalskis were there playing cribbage, too!

After that, we were gong to go home, but decided to check out Capone's and some Mirador action...Capone's was getting ready to close, so we cruised down to the Baja Cantina - we'd never been there, and it was a blast! So many people were having a great time, as did we!

We'll write more later :)

OTHER ROCKY POINT HAPPENINGS...

Happy Tuesday to you all! We are computer challenged for the moment, so bear with us as we catch you up on the happenings over the weekend! In the meantime, check out another Rocky Point blog I know you'll love...

OMG everybody - we just skimmed across this article about water supplies in the USA...We've never been sick drinking the water here in Mexico, though people are freaked out by it all the time...some have this idea of everything in Mexico being dirty; well, we better check out what's closer to home first...

Read more here...(and buy water in bottles)

ROCKY POINT POLLS

INFO ON CAR RENTALS...

We heard snippets of a nightmare of a story that happened to one of her friends! Evidently, a Mexican citizen cannot rent an American car and drive it into Mexico. It's like, a felony offense! The poor lady was coming down with her kids, and ALL of them were detained by customs all day on Friday.

We're totally confused because:
a) What does Aduana (Mexican Customs) care about who drives what car where? (unless it's a car that's been reported stolen, of course)
b) The car rental place that rented the car to her knew she was coming to Mexico with it, so she obviously had permission, right? So they knew she was brining it here...

Ok, so we've vented, pondered, questioned, and we can't come up with a logical reason. We will report more on our findings in the week to come...I think this is worth investigating!

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Our dad sent us this quote, and it's SO true in these times:

LIFE IS FULL OF UPS AND DOWNS THOSE WHO ENDURE WILL REAP THE REWARDS FOR BEING FAITHFUL.

HOT DEALS 4 THE WEEK

Well, here we are on the cusp of the busy season...here's MY hot deals for this week: (how smart am I!? I made all the titles links - so click it 4 more info and pictures)

Las Bovedas #1
This JUST REDUCED 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home is in the gated Las Bovedas community in the Mirador. It's got an incredible 24 foot brick domed ceiling in the great room, and a spacious floorplan. There's plenty of parking in the driveway area and the over sized garage - it's within steps of Fremont blvd and a quick walk to the beach. Great for families, or for the folks that don't wanna be in the hustle n bustle of a condo project.

Mirador Condos
These are JUST REDUCED, charming one bed, one bath condos across from Elixir in the Mirador. There are two unit types - upper and lower. Those upper units have a suh-mokin view from their private roof top terrace. They are built by a lisenced American builder that also has a condo of his own at the site (as would I). There are 12 in total and two complete at this time. All appliances are included and they are ready to be moved into! Owner will totally furnish a unit for a little bit extra!

Plaza Alaina #4
This is a HOT DEAL for sure - 66,900 for a 450 sq foot office space on Fremont Blvd. You KNOW this is already shaping up to be the shopping strip of Penasco...This is the best priced unit available for rent OR sale here. You won't find a better deal - it's totally ready to go today, and I think I'll be putting a "sold" sign on it sooner than later! Can ya help me with that?

For your high roller$ I have...

Puerta Privada 404 East
If you haven't heard, Re/Max took over the resales for Puerta Privada out on Sandy Beach as of February 1st! This is the best priced 2bedroom we have there. It's a little over 1600 sq. ft with AWESOME views of the Sea of Cortez and Old Port. It's partially furnished, but it's totally liveable. The dining table is gone, but there are barstools (and who even uses the dining table anyway?) and some electronics, too (but again, who watches TV while on vacay?) This is THE best priced 2bedroom unit here, and it won't last long!

Puerta Privada 701 East
This is the best priced 3 bedroom we have! It's fully furnished with an awesome wrap around patio and gorgeous views. The two back bedrooms have their own private terrace, and there is an extra 4 feet of space in the great room - it's HUGE! Any client that you have looking for a 3-bedroom will salivate. (or at least ooh and aah a lot)

Luna Blanca Villa #1
This JUST REDUCED villa at the serene project, Luna Blanca is still up for grabs! People - it's 5600 square feet - closest to the water, it's got an indoor pool for pete's sake! This is a hot listing. It's downright sexy. It's the best priced one here - it's got custom finishes and lots of space for storage-if you have a client that wants a villa, this is the one for them. Period.

Ok kids, that's all I have for you for this week...stay tuned for next - I might have listed 500 lots by then! :)

Have a great weekend, don't feed the tourists, and watch out for drunken teenagers on ATV's and other forms of transport!

AWARENESS

We just got this link from a dear friend of ours, and we never really thought too much of it, but the facts are pretty powerful. Click here to read more!

QUAD RENTALS

Baja Land and Sea is a new place in town that rents quads and stuff...check out their site for more info: www.bajalandandsea.com

Do you know that in the 3 years (our anniversary is this month) that we've lived here, we've NEVER spent a day on the dunes?! It's time to get out there and have fun...but then we can't blog for you...maybe we'll get a blackberry. Yeah, that's it...a blackberry. But wait - we need some ca$h for that. Do you know anyone with a thirst 4 real estate investing? Have em contact me: mynparty@yahoo.com.mx.

AZ REPUBLIC - GET OFF OUR BACK!

We're sorry, but can the AZ Republic EVER write something GOOD about Rocky Point? Every single one of the last 3 or 4 articles have been negative. Never do they point out all the good things, like the airport or the coastal highway or the new infrastructure we have, or the great things that Americans are doing to help the less privilaged or the charity events sending hundreds of kids to school, or the clean up efforts - the beach comber, the new garbage trucks, the animal control diminishing the number of stay animals, or the paving of SO many streets, the health inpectors cracking down on restaurant food handling standards...are you seeing where we're going with this? The list is endless.

Maybe if they interviewed people other than those that shelled out tons of cash without seeing anything but sand dunes, then they'd get a better perspective of what's really going on here...

Bad real estate transactions happen everywhere, even in the USA - A.R.M's anyone?? If that wasn't pulling the wool over people's eyes, then we don't know what was. Some of those companies never disclosed that the rates would sky rocket in 3-5-7 years causing the USA housing market would crash like it has.

There are PLENTY of happy investors here that did their homework before throwing their life savings and what not into their real estate purchase.

PS: Last we heard, Playa Azul gave back 85% of the investors' money they had in the project.

A FUNNY FORWARD

We kept saying we'd post forwards we got here to minimize sending a zillion...we forgot, but here's one we got from our brother in Hot-lanna (Atlanta):

9 WORDS WOMEN USE
(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' ... that will bring on a 'whatever').
(8) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying @*!% YOU!
(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

* Send this to the men you know, to warn them about arguments they can avoid if they remember the terminology.
* Send this to all the women you know to give them a good laugh, cause they know it's true.
