FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Hey all you fellow 23 year olds, chew on this:

If you're 23 years old and deposit $3,000 per year (that's only $250 each month!) in a Roth IRA earning an 8% average annual return, you will have saved $985,749 by the time you are 65 years old due to the power of compounding. If you make a few extra contributions, it's clear that a $1 million goal is well within reach. Also keep in mind that this is mostly interest — your $3,000 contributions only add up to $126,000.

Now, suppose that you wait an additional 10 years to start contributing. You have a better job and you know you've lost some time, so you contribute $5,000 per year. You get the same 8% return and you aim to retire at 65. When you reach age 65, you will have saved $724,753. That's still a sizeable fund, but you had to contribute $160,000 just to get there — and it's nowhere near the $985,749 you could've had for paying much less.

ROCKY POINT NIGHTLIFE AT ITS FINEST - S.W.I.M'S SALSA SATURDAY

Last night, we had NO reason to go anywhere but S.W.I.M for their sassy Saturday Salsa session - we had the most fun AND I met some readers...

I hearby send a Texas sized shout out to Rachael, Lourdes, Vince, and John - you guys rock!

Everyone was dancing and talking and laughing - it was just an all around good vibe poolside last night...I heard that the Mixology sessions went well, but we just couldn't drag ourselves away...

Sanctuary is super busy today, so posts will be sporadic - check back!

MEXICO IS CRACKING DOWN ON DRUG TRAFFICING

As you cruise around Puerto Penasco that is crawling alive in police of every branch (city, state, and federal) you should feel a sense of security. The government is taking drug trafficking (and its erradication) very seriously. They are enforcing rigerous new processes and procedures to standing officers as well as new trainees.

Check back for more info on this Reforma Constitucional - Constitutional Reform in the days and weeks to come!

BE THANKFUL!

I know it's hot, Phoenix and Tucson. San Diego, I don't wanna hear it. I know it's hot and humid locals...BUT we need to be thankful. People in the Gulf region are having to evacuate their homes because hurricane Gustav is gathering strength!

JUST TO GET IT OUT THERE...

Todd Melcher is in town! Dont' know for how long, but I chatted with him this morning...welcome back, T!

BE A LOVER, NOT A FIGHTER

Go ahead and laugh out loud.

Thanks Bill for always sending me funny stuff!

LAST NIGHT'S RANDOMNESS

We started out the night at S.W.I.M - had a couple of their KILLER margaritas, then went over to Blue Buddha and had dinner - oh my gosh. I found a new favorite food. The seafood ravioli in pink sauce are to DIE for! Seriously, so so so good...we stayed around for DJ Chip's set, which rocked, as usual, and DJ Ruy cranked up the jams...it was Salsa night at Elixir and we headed over there for a cocktail...it wasn't packed, there was plenty of room to dance, and La Culebra rocked the house!
We cruised through the Mirador, and I just can't even begin to paint the scene for you...it was like...thug nation out there - the guy/girl ratio was like 8:1 - it was horrible - the cat calling, the stares, the belligerent drunkenness - it was gross. Plus it was crawling alive in police and taxis, so parking was a MAJOR issue!

Stay tuned for some stuff coming you way later on today!

ST-ST-ST-STUTTERING

A teacher is explaining biology to her 4th grade students. 'Human Beings
are the only animals that stutter,' she says.

A little girl raises her hand. 'I had a kitty-cat who stuttered.'

The teacher, knowing how precious some of these stories could become,
asked the girl to describe the incident.

'Well', she began, 'I was in the back yard with my kitty and the
Rottweiler that lives next door got a running start and before we knew
it, he jumped over the fence into our yard!'

'That must've been scary,' said the teacher.

'It sure was,' said the little girl. 'My kitty raised his back, went
Sssss, Sssss, Sssss' and before he could say 'Shit,' the Rottweiler ate
him!

The teacher wet her pants laughing.

SPEAKING OF ROCKY POINT NIGHTLIFE...

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

I need to work on this more:

Appreciate yourself. The next time someone pays you a compliment, don't shrug it off or put yourself down. When we push away acknowledgment of our divine selves, we can't amplify the good that is trying to move through our lives. We can be humble and still accept praise. Accept that others are seeing the God within you. Take pleasure that others recognize your true identity. And give the gift of a compliment to someone else.

SPANISH 101 PART #2

I am not perfect, but I do try to write with correct grammar and punctuation as much as possible. I have pet peeves (that might be yours too) about certain things, and the simplist things in Spanish:

Buenos Dias is correct
Buenas Dias is NOT

Buenas Tardes is correct
Buenos Tardes is NOT

Buenas Noches is correct
Buenos Noches is NOT

Stay tuned for my Spanish word of the day! (it's another slang one, but another one of my favorites)

FOR ALL YOU ENTREPRENEURS - QUOTE OF THE DAY

"You worry about the Joneses — I worry about keeping up with the Trumps."

Keep your eye on the prize and don't let anyone tell you you can't do it, because where there is a will, there is a way.

TEN THINGS MILLIONAIRES WON'T TELL YOU

1. "You may think I'm rich, but I don't."

2. "I shop at Wal-Mart..."

3. "...but I didn't get rich by skimping on lattes."

4. "I have a concierge for everything."

5. "You don't get rich by being nice."

6. "Taxes are for little people."

7. "I was a B student."

8. "Like my Ferrari? It's a rental."

9. "Turns out money can buy happiness."

and number ten, which I also just made "Quote of the week"

10. "You worry about the Joneses — I worry about keeping up with the Trumps."

BUYING PROPERTY IN MEXICO

Food for thought:

"...In addition to Mexico’s lower land costs, construction costs are lower, maintenance is inexpensive, and ownership costs (taxes and utilities) are extremely low. A person can live comfortably on the savings from property taxes alone.
For example, in most areas of Mexico, property taxes are approximately 0.1% so, for a $1,000,000 home, one would pay about $1,000 per year. In Florida, property taxes are about 2.5% or $25,000 on a million dollar home. So, with the $24,000 annual difference in property taxes, one could hire a maid, pay the utilities, buy groceries, and still have money remaining..."

If you are thinking of buying property in Mexico, consider this!

OLYMPICS IN PICTURES

Click here for some AMAZING pictures from the Beijing (remember, it's bay-jing) Olympics. WOW!

IT'S 3 TO 4 MONTHS AWAY, BUT PLAN FOR IT

It's inevitable...winter, that is...I love the first part - where it's chilly, but not so much that you get frost bite! Here's an awesome tip to get a head start on beating the winter sniffles:

What you snack on today could just help you ward off a cold this fall and winter. That is, if you're chowing down on yogurt. A study published in USA Today found that subjects who consumed a 3/4-cup serving of yogurt per day suffered 25 percent fewer colds than their non-yogurt-eating counterparts. We like those odds! And we like yogurt!

Fair warning: It takes time for the immune-boosting effects of yogurt to build up in your system (three months or so, according to the study), so add some yogurt to your diet now to avoid the sniffles come cold season. Remember: Look for live active cultures and steer clear of varieties with added sugar.

A GOOD READ

I just finished "Aztec" by Gary Jennings.

It was compelling, it was shocking, it was a humorous, heart warming love story that twisted and turned and brought tears to my eyes...it was adventurous, frightening, and passionate, it was deeply saddening and enraging...it was the best researched historical fiction book I've ever read.

Get a sneak peek

If you want to dig into the meat of Mexican history and really understand where the roots of this country lie, read this book! I'm also going to read the rest of this author's books.

TUESDAY'S CHISMES

I love how that totally rhymes!

Anyway, on to the chismes:

Yelena (Sunset Brad's girlfriend) is 4 months pregnant! FELICIDADES!!! Is he going to pop the question or is he happy being a baby daddy?

We have an Oxxo - it's on Josefa Dominguez and I'm not sure of the cross street, but you can't miss the big yellow and red sign - haven't been there yet, though.

Kasia and Kenny - (need a nickname 4 them) are back in town after a break in Shy town - lucky things! Welcome back you guys!

I don't have anymore chismes right now, but I will post more Rocky Point news and info later - keep checking back!

HILARIOUS. JUST HILARIOUS.

**This is a NSFW (not safe for work) video due to the profanity.**
I had to post it because it is SO funny, it had me in stitches the first time I watched it. The second time, I actually heard more than 3 words of what he said because I was able to supress my laughter...if you are sitting at home (or at a model out there somewhere) you should watch this. I'm about 89% sure that at least 90% of you will get a kick out of it.

READER FEEDBACK

I love getting comments from my readers! Here's what Kent White said about the open letter I wrote:

Ok ... the last mystery open letter was Todd Melcher,

Your recent open letter posting was thought provoking, and hard hitting.
The negative attributes mentioned reflect the dark side of so many of us.
I saw elements of both factions in myself. All in all, a good piece of wisdom, THANKS

Someday I hope to know of whom you refer. Though none of my business.

GOD bless

I hope I can reach out to everyone in the same way...as for whom this letter is intended for, it will reveal itself in due time...

SOME GOOD NEWS

I'm really oh-so-tired of hearing about shootings, killings, war, and other horrid things that I decided to Google "good news" Here are some of my (new) favorite websites:

After reading a couple of articles in each, I feel renewed and enlightened! Good things DO happen - I'd LOVE to see one of these founders (or all of them banned together) and take one of these to TV!

Happy reading :)

When you click on the link below, a series of about 15 pictures will come up.  Click on a photo that appeals to you. Again 15 pictures will come up, click the one for you and move on.  Just continue to keep picking.

I did it, and it was really true! The only bad thing is that you can only choose one - I saw several that I really liked, and wanted to choose...

OPEN LETTER

In light of market conditions, money struggle, world economy, sudden drastic stress-causing changes, I feel like I just need to write this for the person that knows deserves it.

In this day and age, you never know when you might lose someone; I'm not talking just about death. I'm talking about losing someone from your life whether it be because they have to move away, because you've got money/business issues, or because something has happened to your friendship. We need to hold onto the people that have been there for us - especially the ones that go the extra mile for us without question.

Be thankful for what you have, because (as cliche as it is) there are SO many people in the world doing SO much worse. Do you have electricity? Running water? A roof over your head? A car? Well, you're more fortunate than most...You're even fortunate that you HAVE credit card bills - didn't you at elast enjoy spending that money????

Someone very near and dear to my heart has become a victim of someone's greedy, self serving, and inappropriate acts. Never once did this person stop to think of all the bending over backwards and extra hours the other put in. It was all good while person A was reaping the benifits of what person B sowed, but when push came to shove, it was person A lashing out over something trivial.

A lot of people these days are only out for themselves, and rightly so...after they've mistreated others, they are all they have left. They draw a circle around themselves and their family (if that), and that's the only thing they focus on. There are a few souls out there on the contrary, however, that will go above and beyond the call of duty or what is asked or expected to do right by other people. They have drawn a circle around themselves + everyone they know, care about, and love and will watch out for them all. If you have a person like that in your life, no matter what facet, take care of them. Let you know you appriciate them - they could be gone in the blink of an eye...

If you are one of the ungrateful, selfish users that are trying to claw your way out of a hole you've dug for yourself, remember that pulling people down with you is NOT the way to go...Do not belittle, do not try to intimidate, do not try to manipulate the goodness around you...it will only make it harder for you, in turn, making you a more bitter peron in the end.

You reap what you sow. What goes around comes back around. Treat others as you would like to be treated...they all go back forever - and they are all true!

Abide by them.
