I just read an awesome article from Gus Brown over at The Reef RV Park's blog about violence in Mexico.

He says it right: "...There are some others but they are so far south from here that I will not go into in this blog. There has been no acts of violence while traviling from the U.S.A to Rocky Point at the Lukeville or San Luis borders. In fact I have many people when they arrive here tell me 'Gus all the way here we thought about what the news was saying and other people but, now that we are here it is nothing like that at all... they are really hurting the town of Rocky Ponit for no reason...' "

I haven't posted about the coastal highway in forEVER, and I totally forgot to tell yall that I drove it to El Golfo de Santa Clara about 2 weeks ago! The drive is a tad bit boring in the beginning, but once it turns and you can see the Sea, it's absolutely breath taking! It is a little bit mountainous with craggy cliffs...it's really cool! El Golfo is like, one unpaved street abd it goes about 5 blocks deep, but there are cool little kitschy shops n stores. Totally worth the drive!

A really interesting hit late last night in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, two couples taken out, one survivor.
The hit went down in the heart of the city, 13th Street and Juárez Boulevard; El Imparcial reports this morning.
One of the three dead was identified as Joel Meza Cázares, of Culiacán, and los pajarritos andan cantando, saying he was related to Blanca Margarita Cázares Salazar, La Emperatriz, El Mayo Zambada’s ex-girlfriend and a money-launderer for the Sinaloa Federation.

You see, the number of shootings that happen in Rocky Point per year can be counted on one hand. Everyone involved was from far away, and it was something that just sprung up outta the blue. On top of that, it's all gang violence - the drug cartels are battling between each other - it has absolutely nothing to do with tourists or tourism at all! You can bet that our police department will be even more in force than usual - I was wondering why I saw so many patrol cars today!

I am a single woman in my early 20's and I feel safer here than I do in Phoenix, LA, or Dallas (the 3 major cities I frequent) what with all their rapists, robbers, and sometimes snipers...

So there you have it, thanks to the Rocky Point Times!

SWINE FLU - I GUESS I SHOULD SAY SOMETHING

You might take this as a major surprise, but I do not watch tv. Very seldom will I even watch a movie...music just does so much more for me...at any rate, I have heard about this whole swine flu thing, and it has me a little freaked out. Yahoo! has a little scoop on it:

WASHINGTON – The U.S. declared a public health emergency Sunday to deal with the emerging new swine flu, much like the government does to prepare for approaching hurricanes.

Officials reported 20 U.S. cases of swine flu in five states so far, with the latest in Ohio and New York. Unlike in Mexico where the same strain appears to be killing dozens of people, cases in the United State have been mild — and U.S. health authorities can't yet explain why.

"As we continue to look for cases, we are going to see a broader spectrum of disease," predicted Dr. Richard Besser, acting chief of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "We're going to see more severe disease in this country."

MYN'S BLACK PANTHER FOR SALE

Hey everyone,

It's that time of life that I'm starting to apply "out with the old, in with the new" to just about everything!

I need to sell my 1992 Honda Civic. It's black with grey interior, it desparately needs a bath, so i don't have a picture of it. The engine is in good condition, besides that it needs a service. It's got over 100K miles on it, but you know Hondas...they go on forever! The major defects it has are cosmetic - the driver's side mirror is missing, the emblems, the door handle needs to be adjusted. Things that I don't have time anymore to fix!

My goal this week is to become a full time writer. I want to be able to write freely and make a living from it, and that is my plan - I'm going to do everything in my power to not have to sit behind this desk!

JACK NICKLAUS IN ROCKY POINT - AN ANITA ARTICLE

This past weekend in Puerto Penasco electricity was in the air at Peninsula De Cortez golf course grand opening. Who generated the electricity? Only one of the greatest golfers ever known:

Jack Nicklaus.

Friday, March 26th at a press conference held outside Puerto Penasco, Sonora Mexico, Golf AZ, the voice of Arizona golf , took part in hosting a press conference, golf clinic and cocktail hour with Jack.

Saturday rounded up the Friday night buzz with a golf tournament in Jack Nicklaus honor for 80 golfers. Most golfers traveled the short 3-4 hour drive from Phoenix and Tuscon.

Our own DJ Ruy spun a 90 minute set to a crowd of about 2000 people - the energy there was so intense - I loved it! (despite the windy, sandy, cold weather)

The much-needed boost to local tourism is due largely to visitors from the states of Sonora, Baja California and Chihuahua, according to Rafael Gonzalez Valenzuela, director of the office of Conventions and Visitors. “Our strongest markets during this season are from Ciudad Juarez and Mexicali”, said Gonzalez “by Thursday of this week we expect to be at 100% occupancy”.

TOMORROW MORNING - BOOTY CAMP AT BELLA SIRENA!

Hey guys and dolls,
Thought I'd get this sent out today, while everyone is hungover and hating life! Come sweat some of that booze out at "Booty Camp- Mexico Style"! The classes will start @ 7:30 am, and will be held on the Grand Lawn at Bella Sirena Resort. I know this is early!!! But believe it or not, some people do have to work! ;-P
The first class will be on Wednesday, and the 2nd class will be on Thursday! We will be doing them back to back to jump-start our bodies metabolisms, and make sure everyone is on track with their fitness before the weekend mayhem starts! I know how crazy you all are! Ya, ya, ya I've been guilty once or twice as well! ;-)This week is going to be a lot of fun. Depending on the turn out, we will be grouped in pairs, or three's doing station work! So bring your spouse, significant other, or whoever the heck you want, and let's burn some of that goo off! We will be focusing this week a lot on plyometric work, core drills, boxing, and cardiovascular endurance exercises! This is a sure fire way to burn a ton of calories and keep you motivated!
Please show up 10-15 minutes prior to the camp, so you can get your forms turned in and make sure we can start on time. All you need is a bottle of water, an ipod if you so choose, and please don't forget yourself! I am going to do my best to bring speakers so we can jam jam while we workout, but bring your own music, just in case! As always, please email or call me to confirm that you are coming so I can reserve your spot, and email you the forms you need to fill out and bring with.
I like to limit the amount of people so I can be available to help, if need be! You can just shoot me a msg on FB if that would be more convenient!
Weather should be around 70 degrees... PERFECT! I would suggest a sweater, or long sleeve while we warm up, just to get the blood flowin' and the body pumpin'!
