IT HAPPENS TO THE BEST OF US...

I, like many Americans am (at times) a bit frightened by the police. (I think it's the rifles they carry) They ARE here for the greater good, and MANY steps have been taken lately to curb the corruption. On my way home from work not here too long ago, I saw this truck pulled over on the side of the road, thinking he was pulling someone over. Much to my surprise, the cop had a flat tire!
After all, they are people, too - things happen!

**If you feel you are being pulled over for no reason, just stay calm and be polite to the officer. If you feel that he is trying to get money from you, just ask him (or her) what you did wrong. If they will not tell you, ask them to go to the station. Also, don't be fooled - one of the pre-requisites to be a tourist policeman (or woman) is to be able to speak english. The station is located right off of Benito Juarez, behind the Tecate agency (Agencia Tecate)
Most infractions are very minimal - I (admittedly) ran a stop sign - it was $10, I parked on the wrong side of the road in a fire zone, it was $15. You just follow the policeman to the station (they will take your driver's license for good faith) and you will then pay your fine.
There are also two police assistance locations where you can file a report for misconduct or for good conduct located on the unpaved (ATV) road to Sandy Beach, right at the public beach access entry, and one at town hall, right on Benito Juarez and Fremont.**

I hope this will help any tourist who is unsure about the law enforcement officers here in Rocky Point...let me know if you have any questions or comments!
