THUNDERSTORMS AND RAIN PELT THE VALLEY

"Thunderstorms pounded the Valley on Thursday night, leaving some in the dark and shutting down Sky Harbor International Airport for the second-straight night.

Runways were closed around 8:30 p.m. for about an hour with numerous flights diverted to Las Vegas and others delayed. Meanwhile, two storms converged over Gilbert and Mesa, dumping more than an inch of rain.

Several hundred passengers spent the night on the floor of Sky Harbor, and some flights were delayed early Friday..."
