SAYING GOODBYE TO A LEGEND...

I've held my tongue long enough, and I can hold it no longer (sorry G, I have to) One of my best sources of information (or so I thought) told me a few nights ago that she thinks my blog is sh**.

To quote:

P: "I don't read that sh** I don't have time for it"

Well, I must say that I don't agree, and very frankly I am offended. Needless to say, I will not be posting anything about or from her. If you don't know who I'm talking about by now, you more than likely aren't a local - don't worry about it.

Hello all – we had lights, thanks to the efforts of Leon . We are planning our game tomorrow evening at 6PM on the lighted field. Great to see Heidi & Scott!

We need to practice if we are going to be ready for Victor’s team from Caborca.

I went to Caborca last weekend and invited my brother to bring his softball team to Penasco to play against us so we need to practice and we need to get a team together for the time these guys come to be beaten!

Phyllis:
Well, okay then…when will this game occur? Bring ‘em on…

Victor S:
We don’t know for sure yet, I will let you know in advance.

Hmmm...if they're talking so big, they need to back it up with hard facts! Er uh...dates! Yeah, a date! When's it gonna be, huh????

Hello all – apparently Rene’s friend, Leon, has arranged for us to have the lighted field (and I think there is only the one we used to play on) on Wednesday 6 – 8 PM. So, you have plenty of time to figure this out.

Our goal really is to play with adults. We really have enough on our own email list if we all showed up…we need more women too! Invite people to join us too.

So, mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 29th 6PM. See you next week!

ROCKY POINT SOFTBALL LEAGUE

There is finally, officially a co-ed softball team! THEY NEED MORE WOMEN PLAYERS! They have been playing Wednesday evenings at 6PM and have now arranged for a lighted field. They play at the baseball field behind the main baseball field off Benito Juarez and No Reeleccion (Calle 26) [across from Mariposa]. They'll be there Wednesday, October 29th.

The weather is perfect, it is lots of fun and great exercise.

Let Phyllis "The Information Station" LeFevreknow if you are interested. If you have a glove, bring it, if you don’t sometimes they have extras. If you have a bat, bring it too.

If you can join up, invite someone along. The more the better! The goal is 20 players in total. If they have more, they will get you in to play. It really is lots of fun and everyone has a great time.

UNCOMMON WOMEN ON COMMON GROUND OCTOBER EVENT

Hello ladies – I’m excited to let you know we have everything arranged for our anti-graffiti painting for our Uncommon Women on Common Ground event on Tuesday, October 14th. We are going to meet at 5:00 PM at Plaza de la Madre off Benito Juarez and Calle 26 (in front of the baseball field). From there, we will drive to our painting location. As it is getting dark out earlier, we are starting earlier and should be done by 6:30 PM.

Eloy & Indalecio will provide the paint and you will need to bring a paint brush. We will be painting a wall located next to the Montaña School and the baseball field.

Following our painting event, we have been invited to the Paladar Habana Vieja (Cuban Restaurant) to enjoy a delicious buffet dinner for only $10 ($100 pesos) organized by Juan Carlos. They have also invited their dancers to perform for us that evening as well!

Please let me know if you will be available so we know 1) how much paint we will need and 2) the restaurant will be ready for us.

We are all looking forward to be able to make a contribution to our city in the beautification process…see you there!!!

ROCKY POINT UNCOMMON WOMEN ON COMMON GROUND SEPTEMBER MEETING

Hello ladies – a month as already passed, summer is starting to leave us and time for another evening together with our Uncommon Women on Common Ground on Tuesday, September 9th beginning at 5:30 PM at the Oceanview Restaurant located in the lovely Sonoran Sky Condominiums in Sandy Beach.

Edgar Padilla has invited us to enjoy his beautiful restaurant right on the beautiful beaches of the Sea of Cortez for hors d’ouevres and a cash bar for our monthly gathering of networking, building relationships, community and as always, having fun together.

Also, Rosie Glover is working on gathering the last update from Eloy Gonzalez on the Anti-Graffiti Campaign. Our goal is to pick a date and just get to doing what we set out to do…paint some walls and help clean up our city. I should have something to you this week.

Let us know if you will be able to join us this month for another evening together in a perfect setting…
