Dont' forget to contact the AZ Republic and ask them to print the Rocky Point fishing report - the fishing industry is what Rocky Point is all about. I think it's been a little bit forgotten what with all the vertical concrete that has been constructed. This is what this town was founded on, and what people originally came for! So many people hope that Rocky Point will not lose its "Mexican feel" to all the tourism...if you are one of those people, this is one small step that we can take to insure that our fishing economy stays strong!

Every Thursday in the Arizona Republic Newspaper they list a fishing report...and recently the good folks (Mike & Lea) at Oceano Charters have been selected to do the fishing report for Rocky Point...but this news paper still has not listed it yet.

Well, it appears our African-American friends have found yet something

else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman (this would be Sheila
Jackson Lee, of Houston ), reportedly complained that the names of
hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names. She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal. I am NOT making this up!

She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in 'language'
that street people can understand because one of the problems that
happened in New Orleans was, that black people couldn't understand the
seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the
weather report.

I guess if the weather person says that the winds are going to blow at
140+ MPH, thats too hard to understand.

Hello all – I wanted to make sure you were aware we are having a send off gathering tonight at Capone’s beginning at 5:30 PM before he leaves for Houston for his new career.

 

Then, tomorrow, Wednesday, we will have our softball evening.  Seems some people were not enjoying the young players as much as they seem to be getting a little bossy.  That being said, we have relied on them to make sure we have enough to field 2 teams.  So, if we all can show up tomorrow night, we won’t have to rely on the young ones since our goal is to really have an adult co-ed softball team.

 

Hope to see you tonight and then tomorrow evening arriving at 6PM to practice and then game time is 6:30.

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her some place expensive....so, I took her to a gas station.....and then the fight started.... 

After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later. 

The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application. 

When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office. She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability too. 'And then the fight started.....

BLOOD DONOR UPDATE

Finally it's Friday! I've got some pics and some dirt to dish, but for now, I want to let you all know some requirements about donating blood that I've just found out:

• It doesn't matter if you are O+ or not, right now, we need any that we can get. I am going to donate my A- blood on Tuesday...
  
• You can't donate if you've gotten a tattoo within the last 10 years, but after 10 years, it is ok.
  
• If you have high blood pressure, cholesterol, or any other infection, it's best that you not donate.

I know it's strict, but I also know that there are lots of caring, giving people out there that are willing to give blood to someone in need.

If you want to donate, this is how it will work:

• There is only one blood bank in Hermosillo, so you must go there as early as possible, so as not to wait in line forever. They open at 5am.
• You must make sure that you eat a good breakfast and that you have gotten a good night's sleep. 
• It is best to go to Hermosillo the afternoon before, and spend the night there, so you can be rested and fresh that morning.

From Benito Juarez, veer left after the stop light at Fremont, go up and over the hill to Matamoros (the "strip" including Manny's, Pink's, etc) and turn left - go all the way down to Jalisco, where Sandbar Beach club is, and turn left - you can't miss it there on your right.

After the shiz-ow, everyone is heading over to Blue Buddha for Nu Sounds hosted by yours truely - it kicks off about 11, so we'll all be right on time! DJ Chip will be digitally dishing out tunes to groove to till 3am - you will NOT want to miss this Friday night!

Saturday night is the dawn of a new event at Blue Buddha (I'm SUCH a huge fan of this place) it's properly called Pop Culture, and it's going to be off the hook - a gradual progression of music + video from the 80s, 90s, and 00s - get your dance on from 9 till 3am with drinks specials flowing all night...

If you are in Rocky Point this weekend, you have NO excuse to stay in - LOCALS - get off the couch, and get out on the town - everything has been so slow lately - you OWE it to yourself to go out this weekend!
